Lt. Col. Javier Benton

I am the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor for C.E. King High School.  I lead 2 Cadre members and over 180 cadets in carrying out Sheldon ISD's mission and belief in "Every Child, Every Day".


Prior to arriving C.E. King High School, I was the Commander, 97th Logistics Readiness Squadron, 97th Mission Support Group, 97th Air Mobility Wing, Altus AFB, Oklahoma. I led 348 personnel and was responsible for the execution of wing contingency planning and deployments, and providing air freight, aerial delivery, passenger terminal and fleet services for all assigned and transient aircraft. I was also responsible for a $1.2M annual operating budget, $329M of supplies and equipment, 54M gallons of POL annually, and a 501-vehicle fleet valued at over $67M.


I received my commission as a second lieutenant after completing the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Howard University in May 2002. I began my career as a logistics planner at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. I have served in a variety of assignments to include the United States Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya. In addition, I was deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and was the Strategic Mobility Officer for Joint Task Force – Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. I am a graduate of the Joint Professional Military Education Phase II (JPME II) from Joint War College, Joint Forces Staff College, Norfolk, Virginia.
