Academic Decathlon

AcaDecThe United States Academic Decathlon is a ten-event scholastic competition for teams of high school students.

Each high school enters a team of twelve students: 3 Honor students (3.80 - 4.00 GPA), 3 Scholastic students (3.20 - 3.799 GPA), 3 Varsity students (0.00 - 3.199 GPA), and 3 alternate students. GPA for Academic Decathlon is calculated based competition parameters and does not follow the Sheldon ISD GPA calculation.

Each year the competition is based on a predefined theme. The theme for 2023-24 is Technology and Humanity. Regional competition will held on January 16, 17, 26 and 27. Must be able to compete on all competition days.

Every Mondays at 2:50 pm to 3:50 pm in room 2627.

Required Forms
 
The following forms are required for the 2023-24 competition year. Be sure to check back often as this page will be updated throughout the semester.
 
Applications - Due by September 15
Applications can be picked up in room 2627. Applications must be completed prior to September 29 in order to be considered for the team. You must meet all UIL eligibility requirements in order to compete. Classifications and ranking will be announced during our team meetings on Thursdays.
 
Contract
It is important that you are available for all competition days (Essay: January 16 and 17; Competition: January 26 and 27) of competition. By signing this contract you are committing to both days and will need to make sure you plan accordingly. If you are unable to attend, then a signed written notice must be submitted one week prior to competition. The notice must be signed by you and your parent.
