Academic Decathlon

The United States Academic Decathlon is a ten-event scholastic competition for teams of high school students.

Each high school enters a team of twelve students: 3 Honor students (3.80 - 4.00 GPA), 3 Scholastic students (3.20 - 3.799 GPA), 3 Varsity students (0.00 - 3.199 GPA), and 3 alternate students. GPA for Academic Decathlon is calculated based competition parameters and does not follow the Sheldon ISD GPA calculation.

Each year the competition is based on a predefined theme. The theme for 2021 is Water: A Most Essential Resource. Regional competition will held on January 28 and 29. Must be able to compete on both days.

If you are interested in becoming a part of this amazing team, please email Mr. Luna at or Ms. McFadyen at for application and additional information. Study material is already available so the sooner you connect with us the better!
