AP Biology (Period 2)

Course Description

AP Biology course work is evaluated and approved by the College Board. A college level laboratory notebook will be used. This course is equivalent to college-level general biology for science majors and is designed to prepare the student to take the College Board Advanced Placement examination. Three general areas (molecules and cells, genetics and evolution, and organisms and populations) are studied. Laboratory work is an integral part of the course. The aim of the course is to provide students with the conceptual framework, factual knowledge, and analytical skills necessary to deal critically and effectively with the rapidly changing science of biology. The text is a college-level text. Students are expected to take the Advanced Placement exam given in the spring.
